PULP: Cellulose Furniture

Product Design, Service

2017 | VTT Hackathon | Helsinki

PULP was born in VTT’s Cellulose Hackathon (2017). The challenge was to design a product that used cellulose as its primary material. We went one step further and designed a strategy around contempary consumption of furniture, and how cellulose can be a change agent in the product chain.

We understood that the physical and sustainable properties of the material allow to create products with a short life span that allow to be discarded in a much environmentally conscious way.

The table - a flat packed, and easy to assemble object, is an example of developing a product through understanding consumption behaviours around furniture, and realising the untapped potential of cellulose.
